After barely surviving the horrors of the perilium zombie infested swamp, our intrepid explorers are drawn onwards towards the interior of Perilous Island when they come across a strange mound rising up out of the jungle. A rickety wooden platform sits on top of a rocky outcrop that sits upon the mound. Beneath the platform lies a deep pit, the floor of which is covered with wicked stakes. When our explorers encountered this scene a savage, unworldly witch doctor and an excitable guard stood on the platform beside their next intended victim, Giles, a survivor from the Darrow Expedition, who stood stoically, not deigning to allow even the slightest sign of fear to betray his inner feelings.
Rescuing Giles was the major plot point, a perilium deposit, a strange skull shaped stone, a dead body and a village elder provided minor plot points.
Areas of jungle, swampy water and the village were declared to be perilous areas and a scenario event made them extremely perilous.
The Royal Archaeological Society enjoys some early success. Dr Jones heads for the strange skull shaped rock and uses finesse to solve the first plot point.
In the meantime Professor Snow examines the dead body and with back up provided by Blythe and Davis soon discovers its secrets to give the RAS another minor plot point.
Manfreds League of the Black Itza final overcomes the delays and obstacles that had beset them and arrive on the scene in force. Gwiliana uses her demonic blast to good effect temporarily stunning both Blythe and Davies as Lilliane closes in from the other side, flanked by her demonic hounds 'Spot' and 'Nibbler'.
Poor old Giles can hear the chaos erupting around him and wonders if it will change his fate.
The combination of demonic blast and demonic hounds keeps the RAS occupied for a number of turns.
First Davis and then Blythe are overcome by the combined assault and are down and out cold, leaving Professor Snow to battle on alone.
With the good guys fully occupied with matters of Survival, the evil Manfred makes it to the wooden platform, dispatches the guard and witch doctor with unearthly ease and extends his hand to Giles, 'Manfred of the Black Itza, glad to make your acquaintance.'
We can’t wait for the next thrilling instalment of Perilous Island.
