Wargames Atlantic have recently started working on a range of 10mm hard plastic ‘Warmaster scale’ Fantasy Miniatures.
Over the last few weeks I have painted up the Dwarven Host set which retails for £32.50 and contains 246 miniatures, enough to make around seven, four stand units plus some command stands.
This is what the contents of the box looks like painted, based and on the table. The unit in the foreground is Dwarven Cavalry mounted on Rams.
The 20mm x 40mm bases that come with the miniatures have a moulded lip which is the same height as the ‘plinth’ that the figures are standing on. This is handy for filling with plaster to disguise the plinth and give a nice level surface to bases.
Here is a handy comparison shot, as I am sure that lots of you will have Games Workshop Warmaster miniatures already in your collection and are wondering how these will look scale-wise. In the photo above the miniatures on the left are the new Wargames Atlantic plastic Dwarves and the miniatures on the right with bright orange beards are Games Workshop Warmaster metal Dwarves.
Dwarf Spear Unit 1
Dwarf Spear Unit 2
Dwarf Crossbow Unit. (there were enough figures in the box set for these to also have double ranks, however I wanted the unit to look more like a skirmish line, so I have figures left over for a second unit when I buy some mores bases!)
Dwarf Axe Unit
Dwarf Great Axe Unit
Dwarf Cavalry Mounted on Rams
Three command stands mounted on 25mm round bases (the round bases were not part of the set)
The video is one that I made giving a review of the set and a step by step painting guide showing how I painted by Host using Army Painter Speedpaints.

I am going to be using these miniatures for fantasy mass battle gaming using Wars of Orcs and Dwarves.
