The Ford Escort XR3 (launched 1980) was a Mk3-based front-wheel-drive hot hatch designed to compete with the VW Golf GTI, featuring a 1.6L CVH engine with a twin-choke carburetor. Key features included an optional sunroof, sport seats, and distinctive rear spoilers. It produced 96bhp, hitting 0-60mph in 9.9 seconds.
