Damn Dirty Apes!

I’ve always wanted to do some table-top skirmish and RPG gaming inspired by the 1963 Planet of the Apes original novel by Pierre Bouelle which sees French Cosmonauts visit a planet orbiting the star Betelgeuse, in which great apes are the dominant intelligent and civilized species, whereas humans are reduced to a savage animal-like state.

A couple of years ago I mentioned this to Jaycee Fairclough, a talented miniatures sculptor who shared a love for the book. She has put together a range of multi-part Great Ape soldiers and civilians for me.

The ‘savage’ humans are from Wargames Atlantic and Copplestone Castings and are shown to tell the story and for scale compatability.

The range includes 23 unique heads which are also available as a set for converting other miniatures.

In my own ‘Ape World’ setting we see Apes first being genetically enhanced and fed a cocktail of drugs to enable them to be used as Combat Soldiers in human wars.

This eventually brings humans and apes into conflict as apes develop self awareness and resist the abuses of human society.

The protest turn to revolution and human society already weakened by decades of war is overthrown..

You can of course use the range of miniatures to game what ever story you develop.

We have designed a set of Pulp Alley character cards for Ape World gaming that can be downloaded from Kickstarter page.

The miniature range is being launched on Kickstarter.
