Our first VBCW game fought at Ripon City Wargames Club using Bolt Action Rules and 28mm figures saw the Socialist Workers Militia up against a united Royalist / BUF Force.
We rolled for a scenario on the night from the Bolt Action rulebook. The Top Secret mission was selected. We decided hat some important and incriminating papers had been left inside the turret of the broken down armoured car, which was placed in the centre of the table.
The Royalist platoon deployed in the alleyways and back yards of the town, while their BUF allies protected their right flank by deploying in the parkland facing the Socialist Ladies platoon.
The Royalist spent the early turns attempting to work a HMG team around their left flank. The Socialist send a section to attempt to pin it down before it gets into action.
Meanwhile the Workers Militia set up a firm base of fire with two sections deployed within the backyards and alley ways while the third section makes a rush for the cover of the bus in order to get closer to the objective.
The Socialist Ladies Platoon sort them self out after early issues that sees them caught by automatic fire moving between cover which temporarily pins them, leading to them opening up on their officer who has tried to move them forward.
Eventually they deploy their assault section armed with SMG's and Shotguns against the cover of the park wall and engage the BUF in a brutal fire fight.
In the centre the Workers Militia have made in to the broken down Armoured Car and dispatch a brother to search for the papers. The Royalists keep up a steady rate of fire but struggle to make it count.
The Socialist company commander and standard bearer move forward to encourage the snatch squad, who using the cover of the bus make it back to their own lines with light casualties.
In the parkland the BUF hold firm despite having sustained heavy casualties.
This was a great game, the Socialists won and got the important papers off the table, and everyone was keen to play another VBCW game next week.
