In the far North, past the Great River lay the frozen realm of Baboo Natale or Father Yule. Wrapped up warmly in his fur lined green cloak he leads his people in there year long labour to make presents for all of the children, of all of the peoples of Ozz, then on the longest night of the year (the winter solstice) with the aid of the magical ‘bauble of time’ he sets out to circumnavigate Ozz delivering presents and good cheer to all. All most everybody in Ozz loves Father Yule and what he represents and put down there petty squabbles, whether they are between adversaries, competitors, family members or even Kingdoms and come together in peace and harmony for at least one day of the year. However, there is always one who spoils it. Aurora the Ice Queen also dwells in the Frozen North, and she just hates the joy that Baboo brings. Year after year she plots to steal the ‘bauble of time’ from Baboo and thereby take the magic of Yule from all those who live in Ozz. To this ends she raises mighty armies made up from cruel Krampus, brutal Ice Trolls and the evil Dokkaflar (the Elves from below).

Baboo Natela and his adoring wife Le-Befana need to be on constant guard that there kingdom is not invaded and Yule preparations disrupted so they raise and train an effective militia force made up from the Elves who work in the toy factories and the toy soldiers and teddy bears that are made there. By nature Baboo and the Kingdom of Yule are peace loving and would never use there military strength, except in defence of Yule.
The Kingdom of Yule maintains an effective watch on its borders. This is supplemented by intelligence on troop movements from there great friend Professor Nitpick (who supplies Baboo with all of his mechanical gifts and toys from his own workshops in the Industrial City). When Yule’s borders are threatened, courier elves are immediately dispatched to all of the peoples of Ozz, who send forces to aid and strengthen the Yule Militia. United in the common purpose of preserving the spirit of Yule for all Ozz, it is common to see the unlikeliest of forces coming together as allies when Yule is threatened.
The Elves who work in the toy factories are organised into part time militia regiments of reindeer mounted lancers and sling shot firing infantry. As the elves are the permanent part of Yule’s army, they also provide the command hierarchy of senior brigade and army commanders.
The second part of the army is made up from the toys that are produced in Yules workshops. These troops turn over on an annual basis as they are eventually packed away and sent out as gifts to the children of Ozz. An unfathomable magical power, that Baboo Natale has possessed since the beginning of time allows the toy soldiers and teddy bears to increase in stature to the size of men and come come alive equipped with the knowledge and experience to perform there roles. This magic is powerful, but only lasts for one year, at which point the soldiers and teddy bears revert to ‘toys’ and can never be animated again.
Yule’s animated Toy soldiers are very smart, and experts in drill and turnout!
It goes without saying that the Grenadiers are the best turned out and fight without fear or remorse.
Baboos’s Elf cavalry is supported by Toy Soldier cavalry.
Long range support is available from batteries of Toy Soldier artillery.
The magic that is used to animate Toy Soldiers is also used to animate units of Teddy Bears who are organised into Infantry and Artillery regiments.
A campaign supplement is available for ‘The War to save Yule’ which focuses on the eternal struggle of Baboo Natale (Father Yule) to preserve the joy of Yule and Aurora The Ice Queen to vanquish it.
