Over the last couple of weeks, hobby time has been focussed on finishing off terrain and figures and play testing scenarios for our participation game at the Vapnartak Wargames Show, hosted by York Wargames Club at York Racecourse on Sunday 5th February.
We will be taking our Viking Port and will be running a number of short taster games using Feudal Patrol and Pulp Alley games systems.
There are a few additions to the Viking Port since we last assembled it on the table top, biggest being the huge Viking mead hall. We are planning to run a Pulp Alley Beowulf scenario inside it. We have also added a couple of Viking houses with planked wooden roof’s and a ruined house and a house under construction, (we have had to place these outside the defensive walls!).
Here we see the entrance gate way. One of our Feudal Patrol scenarios covers an attempt to rush the gate and surrounding wall sections with a small group of well equipped warriors. The second Feudal Patrol scenario covers an attack of the harbour by the crew of a Drakkar.
The Viking fleet has also grown since we last assembled the port on the table. We know have a pair of Drakkar (the large sea going raiding ship with a dragon prow), a Knarr (tradding ship), a Snekkja (smaller 16 crew raiding ship), a rowing boat and a ship under construction.
All of the buildings and ships have been 3D printed from designs by Iain Lovecraft from his Viking Saga Kickstarter.
The miniatures are also designed by Iain Lovecraft and are soon going to be available as metal castings as part of a Viking Saga Miniatures Kickstarter launching early February. Click here for Kickstarter sign up page!
