Over the last week I have been busy 3D printing and painting 28mm scale Viking buildings designed by Iain Lovecraft for his new Kickstarter which is scheduled to launch on 16th August. The additions since my last hobby blog have been the Jetty ready for visiting maritime trade, a Viking Mine and two new dwellings.

The Jetty is modular. The sections are about 4″ square and come with either two, four or no posts. The legs are separate. One of the benefits of 3D designs is that they are so easy to adjust to meet your needs. I therefore printed two sets of shorter legs to make a pier section fit the profile of my Terra-Former beach board. No ships yet…. but they will be arriving very soon!

The settlement is developing it’s first industry. Looks like this settlement has found an iron ore vein that they are mining. Iron will provide them with a valuable trade commodity, maybe the settlement will have it’s own blacksmith or armourer in the future.

Here’s a close up look at one of the new dwellings. I love the range of building materials which includes wood, stone, reeds and wattle and daub sections.

The opposite side of the dwelling, showing some nice carved detail. Iain has been working with a Viking museum in Sweden to get the architectural detail just right.

The building feature lift off roofs and detailed gamable interiors. All of the doors are hinged.

I really like this building with it’s attached dirt yard, enclosed by a wattle fence. I will need to sort out some poultry and maybe a pig to go in the yard.
