Description
The AV2 or Aero Two was the first general issue Aerodyne, although mainly used for orbit to dirtside operations the AV2 is jump capable. The AV2 is a stretched and updated version of the Aero 1, capable of carrying 10 passengers and with a crew of two. In use as a troop carrier, the 8 to 10 troop squad was able to be comfortably accommodated, with space for cargo and hangers-on if required. In a pinch, about twenty passengers could cram in, but this put the Aero at the outer edge of its flight envelope and was officially discouraged.
As technology moved on the AV2 was retired from frontline service and became available for the right price on the open market.
The AV2 did continue in service in a support role, as the best examples were armoured and refitted to become gunships. These early support vehicles mounted eight PML tubes on pylons, as well as a pair of 30mm cannon in ventral blisters. Fitted with the same sensor pack as the transport version, the Gun Twos filled a gap in the range of support available but was hampered by the need to set down to reload the missile tubes.
A few of these AV2 have made there way to Terra, and are available for a short time.
